Garage Sale Dud

by Mindful Merchant on June 20, 2011

Hubby:  Um…you know that great deal you found at the garage sale?  The realistic owl? The one you said would solve our bird-grapevine-pooping-on-patio furniture problems?

Me:  Yeah.  What about it?

Hubby:  Well, you had better come see this.

Walking over to the window.

Me:  Oh noooo!!!

Hubby:  I don’t think it’s working. (laughing)  Looks like you just bought them a new perch.

Me:   AND a new best friend.

So...do you come here often?

Recycled, you say? Very comfy.

hee hee hee. We have a nest of birds busy pooping on our deck. Good to know what to buy to make them more comfortable…

Would you like my realistic owl for your porch? Freecycling! (seriously)

Ha ha ha ha! I think the problem is that you have pigeons, and pigeons aren’t smart enough to be scared of owls.

I think that most owls don’t prey on birds (usually rodents, reptiles or fish). Your problem birds might be more respectful of a realistic hawk. :)

Zoom – I thought they were doves. lol You really are the Bird Whisperer! Would you like a “pet” plastic owl for your family? :)

LGS – A-ha! That explains so much – thank you. I will search for a realistic hawk at a garage sale…or perhaps a vulture. That ought to please the neighbours. hee-hee

I know! I had to hose it off today…couldn’t bear to see the bird droppings running down his head. Now I have to get a fake hawk to keep the birds off the owls head AND our patio furniture. Geesh.

Too funny! Based on LGS’s comment, perhaps the owl could help reduce the squirrel population in my yard?

Well, the Lone Grey Squirrel (LGS) is THE expert on all things squirrel…however, he might find it offensive that you want to rid your yard of his species. :o
